Revenue Leader Of Influence™
About Bernadette

You Don't Need Another Framework. You Need Someone Who Has Actually Been There.

If your revenue feels harder to predict than it should — and you’ve already tried the strategies, the hires, the training programmes — the problem is probably not what you think it is.

Most revenue problems don’t start in the pipeline. They start in leadership. In how decisions get made and owned under pressure.

Bernadette has spent forty years inside that problem. Not studying it. Living it — as a salesperson, a business owner, a leader who lost everything and rebuilt, and now as the person CEOs and CROs call when nothing else has moved the needle.

“Leadership that holds up under pressure — so revenue stays predictable.”

The Paradox That Started Everything

She Was Told She Was Too Nice for Sales. Three Times.

Melbourne, 1983. She had been watching from the admin floor, running commission calculations for salespeople she knew she was better than. When a sales trainee role opened, she asked for it.

They said no. “Too nice.” She asked again. “Not aggressive enough.” A third time. “Doesn’t have what it takes.”

The third time, she stopped managing how she came across and walked down that hallway as the full, undiluted version of herself. The Managing Director put his hands up and said: “You’ve got the job.”

What they didn’t realise — and what she would spend the next forty years proving — is that real influence was never about aggression. It was about clarity, conviction, and the courage to show up as exactly who you are when pressure tells you to shrink.

“What every ‘no’ was really teaching me is that pressure doesn’t just test you — it reveals who you are becoming. That moment contained the seed of everything I would spend the next four decades learning, unlearning, and refining.”
— Bernadette McClelland, Becoming A Revenue Leader Of Influence
Forty Years

Not a Career Path. A Body of Evidence.

Every lesson Bernadette teaches was earned — in territories, in boardrooms, in a hospital bed, and in the quiet moments of rebuilding when nobody was watching.

1983
The Beginning

Rank Xerox, Melbourne — three rejections, one decision

Started in Equipment Order Entry. Moved to Credit. Fought her way onto the sales floor despite being told three times she didn’t have what it took. Her first major deal — thirty-five machines at Commonwealth Serum Laboratories — came not because of features or pricing. The client told her: “It’s about bloody time they put someone on my account with a bit of enthusiasm.”

1980s–90s
Two Decades at the Top

Twenty years inside one of the world's most demanding sales cultures

Led through the transformation from analog to digital. Topped the class nationally in Xerox’s year-long digital transition program when most salespeople didn’t make the cut. Left as a senior sales executive and award-winning specialist — not because the path was straight, but because she chose to stand at the front of every change rather than be carried by it. Along the way, found Jonathan Livingston Seagull in a second-hand bookshop — and recognised immediately the difference between the seagulls fighting for scraps and the one who flew higher. That became Deliberate Disruption™.

2000s
The Season That Forged Everything

The business didn't survive. She did.

After Xerox, she and Tim built a retail business, won awards, became a community fixture. Then expanded into wholesale — and like so many founders, wore every hat, had no systems, held everything together through sheer force of will. A forklift accident put her in hospital. Her body shut down. The business collapsed. Bankruptcy. A year out of action gave her an education no classroom could replicate: who am I when I’m not doing? The answer — and the decision to rebuild from it — became the foundation of the Manager of Self layer in everything she now teaches.

Now
Denver, Colorado

Six suitcases. A new chapter. The same person.

She and Tim arrived in the United States with six suitcases, two backpacks, and no guarantees. Jonathan Livingston Seagull came too. Today she works with CEOs and CROs of mid-market businesses on Decision-Led Revenue™ — the framework that connects leadership behaviour directly to revenue predictability. She is the author of seven books. The latest — Becoming A Revenue Leader Of Influence — is published in 2026.

The Decision That Changed Everything

Four Hundred Metres. One Quiet "I Can Do That."

When Tim walked Bernadette four hundred metres to a local school business expo — the goal was simple: get her out of bed and moving again after the accident and the illness.

She wasn’t planning a next chapter. She was just trying to walk.

They wandered past a few stalls. She stopped at a coaching stand. Looked at it. Looked at Tim.

“No drama. No grand declaration. Just certainty.”

From there, she rebuilt. While Tim spent three months in a dark room building her first website, she enrolled in a coaching school — studying, practising, slowly stepping back into herself.

What followed — the stages, the travel, the work alongside Tony Robbins, the move to the United States — all of it grew from that one quiet decision.

This is why she works the way she works. Not from theory. From the lived knowledge of what it actually takes to make a decision when everything is uncertain and nothing is guaranteed.

The Philosophy

Why Deliberate Disruption™ Is Everything.

Change that is chosen is transformation. Change that arrives without your preparation is disruption. The difference between the two is not the change itself — it is who initiated it.

Bernadette found this truth in a second-hand bookshop in the 1990s, reading about a seagull who flew higher while the others fought for scraps on the shore. She has been building the philosophy ever since.

Deliberate Disruption™ is not a technique or a keynote topic. It is a way of moving through the world — in leadership, in business, and in life. The belief that if you are not choosing to create change in yourself, something will eventually impose it on you.

🔄

Disruption before it's forced

You cannot lead others through transformation you have not been willing to undertake yourself. Leaders who choose change before the market forces it are the ones who last.

🎯

Influence begins inside, not outside

Real influence — not manipulation, not authority, not charisma — is something built layer by layer, from the inside out. It begins the moment you take responsibility for creating change in yourself.

⚖️

Decisions, not activity, move revenue

Most revenue problems trace back upstream — to how decisions get made, stalled, or avoided under pressure. Fix that, and the pipeline takes care of itself.

🤝

We are far more alike than we think

After forty years observing leaders, teams, and businesses — the one truth that holds across every industry, every culture, every pressure point: we all want to feel safe, valued, and connected to something that matters.

What This Means in Practice

Her Story Is Only Relevant Because of What It Means For Yours.

None of this is background. Every part of Bernadette’s story is why she can see things in your business that others miss — and why leaders trust her with the problems that actually matter.

🏗️

She has built and lost a business

She knows what it feels like when decisions carry real weight — when the stakes aren’t just professional, they’re personal. She does not work from the outside of that experience looking in. She works from inside it.

🔍

She has seen what actually breaks revenue

Forty years of watching deals stall, teams plateau, and forecasts collapse has given her a diagnostic ability most advisors don’t have. She can find the decision point that’s causing the problem — usually before the leader can see it themselves.

🧭

She has rebuilt — more than once

From bankruptcy to a US green card in the category of extraordinary ability. From a hospital bed to stages alongside Tony Robbins. She knows what the rebuild actually requires — and she doesn’t romanticise it or rush it.

From Tim

The Person Off Stage Is the Same Person On It.

Tim McClelland was there for all of it. The business that didn’t survive. The hospital. The rebuild. The six suitcases.

He wrote the preface to Becoming A Revenue Leader Of Influence — not because it was a nice touch, but because he was the one sitting beside her through the seasons this book was built from.

He is also, in his own words, proud husband and sales leader.

“There’s no version of her for the spotlight and another for home. I’ve seen her mentor leaders late at night when everyone else was asleep. I’ve seen her rewrite keynotes until they felt true. The influence she writes about didn’t come from talent alone. It came from decisions. Repeated choices. Especially when things were hard.”
